NEWS UPDATE Kagawa netted and made an assist as Dortmund beat Hannover 3-2 Saturday. ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS Kagawa was superb throughout as Dortmund clung on to victory. He scored a simple tap-in from Marco Reus' pass and then sent in an excellent cross to set-up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to make it 3-1. The Japanese international also covered more distance on the pitch than anyone else in what was a tireless performance. Reference: ROTOWIRE

'Kagawa is kagawaing like a Shinji 2012 gonna Kagawa' read one tweet on Friday. How true? Ross, for one, think he has been key to the Dortmund revival of recent weeks. Shinji Kagawa's stint at the Asian Cup in Australia has appeared to be a blessing in disguise - the Japanese attacking-midfielder has entered a vein of form not seen from him since he took the league by storm in 2010. The Japan national team endured a tumultuous tournament Down Under; regarded as favorites by many, they eventually lost out to the pre-tournament minnows United Arab Emirates. Kagawa missed one of the decisive penalties in the shootout and the sight of him slumping to his knees in despair proved to be one of the iconic images for the Samurai Blues. Low on confidence and fatigued, Kagawa returned from Asia's premier international tournament with a point to prove. His performances in the first half of the season had not given much hope to the Dortmund faithful, with his only goal or assist coming on his 'second debut' against Freiburg. However, the quartet of Kagawa, Marco Reus, Kevin Kampl and Pierre-Emerick has regained the missing dynamism and aggression for BVB in the counter-pressing strategy, which was missing for long spells of the first half of the season. But it's the former Manchester United man whose fortunes have changed most impressively since the turn of the year. What is striking is that it comes after such a terrible stint at the Asian Cup - was this just a case of Shinji getting the bad form out of his system, or has he now gained momentum born out of regular football? Whatever the cure, it seems to be working. In the hinrunde, Kagawa's only notable performance was the first-half against Bayern in November. Now back to his best, this attacking virtuoso is once more showing an outstanding ability to find pockets of pace that nobody else can find on the pitch. Had Kagawa not assisted two of the goals in Stuttgart, there would have still been much to write about - the midfielder has been influential in a resurgent Dortmund overall since the restart of action in January. Three assisted goals in three games and a very confident, albeit assist-less, performance versus Mainz sandwiched inbetween, represents an excellent return to form. He's evidently so instrumental in making this team tick. Kagawa has stepped up to the mantel which has been vacated by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the team's former master of short-passing combinations and link-up play. Without either of these two players, Dortmund's game just isn't the same. Above all else, though, it's just delightful to see the 25-year-old rediscover his game after what turned out to be a torrid time at Old Trafford when he faced the wrath of the English media for his lack of an impact. Welcome back, Shinji. Reference: DW

Kagawa was unlucky not to find the net as Dortmund beat Mainz 4-2 Friday. Kagawa played 78 minutes of the game against Mainz and went close several times to getting his first goal since Sept. 13. The Japanese international had a shot saved in the third minute, went very close to scoring with a long-range drive at the end of the first half, and also fired wide in the second half. It was a high-energy performance from the midfielder, who surely will start finding the net with a bit of luck. Reference: ROTOWIRE

Kagawa got an assist in a fine performance Saturday as Dortmund defeated Freiburg 3-0. The Japanese international has been a bit off the boil lately with some ineffective displays but returned to form at Freiburg. The midfielder was part of some excellent link-up play throughout the game and set-up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 72 minutes following a flowing team move. Kagawa covered more distance than any Dortmund player in what was a tireless and dynamic showing. Reference : ROTOWIRE

Japan celebrated their third win in three games at the 2015 Asian Cup. Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa got on the scoresheet against Jordan, leaving the door open for Iraq who now face Iran in another quarterfinal.  Three games, three wins and no goals conceded. With six Bundesliga players in their starting line-up, Japan entered the Asian Cup this year as one of the favorites and have now made the quarterfinals without conceding a goal. Japan won their last group D game in Melbourne, beating Jordan 2-0. Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa scored in either half to secure the three points. Alongside Kagawa were Bundesliga players Makoto Hasebe, Takashi Inui (both Eintracht Frankfurt), Gotoku Sakai (Stuttgart) and Shinji Okazaki (Mainz). Hannover's Hiroshi Kiyotake was brought on for Inui after 50 minutes. Having topped the group with a maximum points return, Japan now face the United Arab Emirates on Friday. Quarterfinal sees Iran take on Iraq On the same Friday, Iran and Iraq will face each other in another quarterfinal. Iraq profited from Jordan's defeat and progressed in second spot in Group D after beating Palestine 2-0 in Canberra. Captain Younis Mahmoud and Ahmed Yasin both got on the scoresheet for Iraq. Palestine exit the competition with no points and a -10 goal difference. Thursday's quarterfinals see South Korea take on Uzbekistan and China play host's Australia. The final will be played on January 31. Reference : DW

Kagawa was brought to Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson, but after a promising debut campaign struggled in England under David Moyes. SEE ALSO: Promising defender tells BT Sport why he left Manchester United In total, the Japanese forward played 38 Premier League games for United, scoring six goals, but was often used as an impact substitute or not in his favoured number ten role and struggled to find consistency as a result. Shinji Kagawa, Japan Age: 25 Position: Midfield Club: Borussia Dortmund, Germany Japan’s mercurial playmaker is expected to play a key role for his country as they bid to retain their Asian Cup title in Australia. When Kagawa is on song, Japan can mesmerise with their slick passing in and around the box and the midfielder will be keen to exorcise the ghosts of a disappointing World Cup last year. Out of favour at former club Manchester United, Kagawa failed to make an impact in Brazil, sinking so low into the doldrums his Japan team mates took him to a communal bath to wash away the blues. But stung by the criticism at the World Cup, Kagawa has found a new lease of life since returning to Dortmund following a frustrating two-year spell at United. Kagawa, who helped Dortmund win back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, provides much of Japan’s creative spark in his attacking midfield role, capable of unlocking the stubbornest of defences with a killer pass, and is equally adept at drifting in from wide areas. He will be desperate to leave his impact on the tournament after a metatarsal injury ruled him out of the 2011 Asian Cup final in Doha, where Japan beat Australia 1-0 in extra time. If Kagawa can reproduce his recent club form, expect Japan to shine. Reference : Malaymail online

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is convinced Shinji Kagawa will return to his best form soon....

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is convinced Shinji Kagawa will return to his best form soon. Kagawa returned to the German giants following a disappointing two-year spell at Manchester United where he was used sparingly and often played out of position.  Leaving Old Trafford was a big relief for Kagawa - something he has publicly mentioned several times - but the creative midfielder has also failed to star this season back in the Bundesliga.  Dortmund have struggled this campaign and have, at times, even sat bottom of the Bundesliga table.  Kagawa's defensive efforts have been criticised but Klopp said he knows what he gets from the Japan international and added that he took encouragement from the 25-year-old's second-half performance against Anderlecht on Tuesday.  Dortmund drew 1-1 with Anderlecht in the UEFA Champions League - a result that saw them finish on top of Group D.  "Shinji is no warrior in defence, that's for sure. But we didn't buy him to play centre-back," Klopp said. "He came from a, let's say, a not so fantastic situation from Manchester United, he started well when he got back to Dortmund, but now he isn't playing that great anymore.   "So it's possible that you disappear for a while. A lot of players return to form a little bit quicker.   "I mean, Kagawa's first half performance against Anderlecht wasn't good, but in the second half he improved.   "It's all about building and improving our quality as a team in the few training sessions we have over the next couple of weeks.   "But Kagawa has extraordinary skills. He hasn't lost them."  Dortmund visit the German capital to play Hertha Berlin on Saturday.    Reference: SPORTAL

NEWS UPDATE Kagawa was an effective creative outlet and narrowly failed to get on the scoresheet Saturday in Dortmund's 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich. ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS Kagawa was a key part of Dortmund's midfield and helped provide cohesion and fluidity to Dortmund's attacking moves. He also went close to finding the net a couple of times, particularly when his turn and shot flew just wide of the post. A decent game for Kagawa, who was substituted after 71 minutes, despite defeat. Reference: ROTOWIRE

Things might not have worked out for Shinji Kagawa at Manchester United, but unlike his former club the Japanese star is shining in the Champions League this season. Kagawa left Old Trafford in the summer after two years at Old Trafford, in which he failed to make a significant impact. But reunited with mentor Jurgen Klopp, the play-maker is back to his best already, and teed up Ciro Immobile’s opening goal against Anderlecht with a delightful scooped pass. The German club eventually ran out 3-0 winners thanks to a double from striker Adrian Ramos. Dortmund are now top of their group on six points, three clear of second-placed Arsenal. Kagawa was dynamic and strengthened his team creatively after coming on as a 57th minute substitute in Dortmund's 2-1 defeat Saturday to rivals Schalke. ROTOWIRE FANTASY ANALYSIS Kagawa has needed time to adjust since returning from Manchester United in the summer and now looks to be finding form. After being dropped to the bench, Kagawa replaced Ciro Immobile in the 57th minute and changed the flow of the game. Dortmund became more fluid when going forward and were far more incisive with him in the team .  Expect Kagawa to re-gain his place in the starting line-up for the Champions League match against Anderlecht. One of the great things about having Louis van Gaal working in the Premier League is that English f...

One of the great things about having Louis van Gaal working in the Premier League is that English football at last has a manager who will openly discuss tactics. In a world in which any reference to tactics in a post-match press conference has tended to bring heavy sighs, that has already come as a refreshing change. Perhaps the most significant aspect of what Van Gaal has said so far is the hint that he foresees a future for Shinji Kagawa at Old Trafford. The issue of Kagawa has been a vexed one for Manchester United. On the one hand, he is clearly technically gifted and industrious and has shown flickers of being capable of imposing himself on games. On the other hand, neither Sir Alex Ferguson nor David Moyes ever quite seemed able to work out where best to use him. Patrick Smith/Getty Images The tendency, from both managers, was to use the Japan international on the left side of midfield, following the traditional British wisdom that pushes talent to the flank. Perhaps in the days of heavy pitches, when the subtler ballplayers would get bogged down in the mud of midwinter, it made sense to pack the middle with stamina and let the talent try to find a footing on the firmer turf of the touchlines, but it’s been at least 20 years since that was a problem in the Premier League. Besides which, at Borussia Dortmund, Kagawa helped lead the midfield press. According to Whoscored.com, he averaged 1.2 tackles and 0.5 interceptions per Bundesliga game in his final season at Dortmund. Those figures have remained relatively consistent at United (0.9 tackles and 0.6 interceptions per game in the Premier League in 2012-13 and 1.0 tackle and 1.0 interception per game in 2013-14): He may not be the most physically robust of players, but Kagawa can win the ball back. What has changed at United is the lack of influence Kagawa has been able to exert—although in part that is down to his starting position. At a press conference before the 2013 Champions League final, Jurgen Klopp, Kagawa’s manager at Dortmund, said his “heart breaks” to see him playing on the flank rather than operating as a No. 10 as he did at Dortmund. Clive Mason/Getty Images Part of the problem, and it is something Van Gaal has alluded to, is that United have an unbalanced squad, with four players who would ideally operate as a No. 10: Kagawa, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Adnan Januzaj. That initially led to suggestions that Kagawa may be sold, with Dortmund seemingly keen to take him back, per The Independent, but Van Gaal’s recent comments suggests there could be a role for him. Van Gaal is a tactical chameleon, always willing to change according to circumstance, but a consistent strand of his thinking has been the use of three central midfielders, whether in a 4-3-3-cum-4-2-3-1 or in a 5-3-2. The former option leaves Kagawa in much the same position as he has been up until now at United, competing with three others for the slot behind Robin van Persie—although Van Gaal is probably more willing to demand that Rooney should play wide than Moyes was. What should Manchester United do with Kagawa? Keep him, he deserves a chance Sell him, there are better options available SUBMIT VOTE vote to see results The second option, though, with the security of an extra central defender, is intriguing. “I wanted to try him in the No. 6 or No. 8 position in our system in the first two matches, and then I also gave him a chance at No. 10 because he wanted to play in that position,” Van Gaal said after bringing Kagawa off the bench in the draw against Inter Milan on Tuesday. He had used him deeper in the previous two games on tour, and given his energy and understanding of the game, there is no reason Kagawa should not function well there. In fact, if Van Gaal used a back four, Kagawa could probably play as one of the two flanking central midfielders, provided the central player didn’t operate too far forward. Rumours persist that Kagawa will be offloaded as Van Gaal reshapes the squad, but the fact he is looking at him in an array of positions suggests the new manager sees a future for him. Kagawa is, after all, quick, hard-working and tactically intelligent. He should be the ideal Van Gaal player. Reference :  bleacherreport.com

Today I visited Rikuzen Takada-shi, Iwate prefecture. Arrived around noon and went round the Rikuzen Takada city, and dropped by the ward office. I was able see and witness the current situation if the Rikuzen Takada city, I was able to realize again how terrifying an earthquake can be and how hard it is to revive back. Later on I jumped into the Junior, Intermediate and High school's soccer club.   It was supposed to be a surprise but they knew that I was coming somehow so I was a little disappointed lol Through soccer I wanted to cheer the children but instead they gave me support for the World Cup. I want to keep the strength of the Tohoku people moving towards the future with me and play in the World Cup. I am planning to upload the footage of today soon, so please stay tuned and look forward to it!
